Emergency Food Assistance for Your Family
AmpleHarvest.org helps millions of backyard gardeners easily find a local food pantry to donate their extra garden produce to.
If you have come to this site because you are in need of food assistance for your family, you may try to Find A Pantry and look for a local food pantry.
If you are unable to find one in your community, you should call the National Hunger Hotline 1-866-3 HUNGRY or 1-866-348-6479 [asistencia en español esta disponible en: 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273)] refers people in need anywhere in the U.S. to food pantries, soup kitchens, government programs, and model grassroots organizations.
Passionate hotline advocates can help you find resources in your community Monday through Friday from 9am-6pm Eastern Time. Help is available in English and Spanish and online.
WhyHunger’s National Hunger Hotline offers:
- Live hotline advocates
- Partnerships with grassroots organizations working on innovative solutions to hunger and poverty
- Staff are trained on crisis management and by the USDA on federal nutrition programs
- Consistent service across the country
- We answer questions via email and a live chat feature
If you leave a message after hours of operation, WhyHunger will return your call. All calls are free and confidential.
If WhyHunger helps you find a food pantry (or closet or shelf or bank or cupboard), help it get you locally grown fresh garden produce by printing this flier and give it to the pantry manager. Urge them to register their food pantry at www.AmpleHarvest.org as soon as possible. Remind them it is free!
