Happy (early) Mother’s Day from AmpleHarvest.org

May 05, 2014

Happy (early) Mother’s Day to all the ladies with kids of their own, or others they’ve raised, birth moms, adoptive moms and even those who have buns in the oven that won’t be ready in time for this year’s holiday. I’m sitting at my desk writing this blog post with 12 days left until the day my second child is due to arrive! That’s right, I can barely reach the keyboard, but I’m writing this post in advance of my maternity leave because I wanted to be the one to say Happy Mothers Day to you!

There are lots of ways to honor your mom on mother’s day, and if she happens to be a gardener, there are a ton of ideas on our Pinterest page here that will help you create a beautiful, inexpensive centerpiece to give mom (or grandma). We want to encourage you to “Skip The Flowers” this year because you can make a gorgeous arrangement with fresh, uncut fruits and vegetables that will be less expensive, just as beautiful, and will last longer than store-bought flowers! The other awesome thing about skipping the flowers is that when mom is done enjoying the centerpiece you made for her, tell her you’re going to donate the food to your local food pantry so that it can bless two tables! You can’t tell me your mom’s heart won’t melt when she hears that!

All you have to do is go to AmpleHarvest.org/find-pantry to search for a pantry near you and arrange to drop it off when mom’s done.  Send us a picture of your bouquet at [email protected] or post it to instagram and use the hashtag #ampleharvest and we might feature your photo on our facebook page.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
