Our food pantry operates on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free and open to everyone. We also operate a free farm stand throughout the growing season (approximately June through October) on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, we host a free Thanksgiving box giveaway in November, a free garden-in-a-box giveaway in May and a weekend food program that benefits kids in Park Hill.
We accept donations on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as noted above. During our free farm stand season, we also accept fresh produce donations at our office on Saturday.
We accept unexpired food donations on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and on Tuesdays from noon to 5 p.m. We also have volunteers who will collect food items if you’d like to donate or host a food drive. We also have a fresh food arm in our pantry and accept fresh foods and frozen meat proteins.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
