St. Mark's Lutheran Church

St. Mark’s Community Food Bank is an outreach ministry that supports families who are in need of food assistance. Families may visit us now twice a month to choose from a menu of food items including canned fruits, canned vegetables, and meat. Through generous donations from the community, we sometimes have toiletries, and other food items. The Food Bank is open Tuesday through Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for families who currently possess a food bank card and/or letter from the Community Action Council. If you do not have a food bank card/letter or are new to the community, St. Mark's Food Bank (with proper ID and proof of a local address) will provide food one time for one individual. Federal guidelines do not permit us to supply food to anyone without proper ID. Individuals and families may then arrange to get the necessary paperwork from the Community Action Council. We have rearranged our food bank utilizing every safety precaution available to protect our volunteers and families. As you enter, you will be given instructions on how to proceed to receive your food.

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
