Our mission is community building through service to our most valuable members. The food insecure of Buchanan County, IA. Our primary concern is providing five day supply of nutritionally balanced meals with genuine friendliness in regard of the dignity of our clients. Our support system is available five days a week for emergency and supplemental help, for the elderly, the disabled, the mentally ill, the intellectually challenged, and parents struggling to raise their childern on limited resources. To accomplish that goal they call upon a local communtiy for funding and volunteer staffing. The clients, the donors, and the volunteers who interact with each other and form relationships are diverse in age, background, ablilities, and life experince. Our concern and care for each other extend to our earth as well. We practice food rescue, partnering with local restuarants and retailers, who donate useable foods that would otherwise go to the landfill. Our attitude is "Each person who walks through our pantry door is valuable and shall be treated with respect".
