West Central Community Action Shelby County Food Pantry
Pantry #8185
Households and individuals residing in Shelby County may access WCCA's Shelby County Food Pantry up to six times per year. There are no income eligibility guidelines at this time. Food pantries are pre-packaged according to the household size and are designed to provide emergency food for 3-4 days, 3 meals per day. Please call ahead to schedule a food pantry.
WCCA also accepts donations of fresh produce for immediate distribution to those in need. Families especially love fresh foods such as tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, cucumbers, and more.
The Shelby County Food Pantry is currently in need of the following items: Boxed meals, spaghetti, potatoes, pasta & rice sides, fruits and vegetables, eggs, dairy, breakfast items, canned meat, peanut butter, pasta sauce and juice. Toiletries such as toilet paper, shampoo, dish soap, etc are also greatly needed. We also accept frozen and refrigerated items! All donations are greatly appreciated :)
This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
Donations may be dropped off Monday-Friday 8am-1pm. Hours are subject to change based on staff availability. Large donations are preferred to be delivered in the back alley (please call ahead).
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
