We are a food pantry located in a Title 1 Elementary school. We support our 456 enrolled students and their families. Almost 90% of our students and their families are economically disadvantaged. We encourage healthy nutritional lifestyles like fresh food and support various dietary needs such as vegetarian, halal, kosher, and cultural foods for our multicultural community. As a part of our food pantry, we also have hygiene items such as toiletries and baby essentials which are a high need as well and would be appreciated.
The new hours are Monday - Friday from 9:30 am - 3:30 pm, except on holidays and when school is closed. The pantry is opened late on Tuesdays and Fridays until 6 pm.
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
