Turning Point

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us, we are Turning Point! We are a Shelter for Individuals seeking safety and shelter after fleeing a domestic or sexual abuse relationship. We hold up to 45 people (woman & children) in our facility and offer stabilizing services and empowerment. In the month of February, we provided over 3000 meals to our clients and children. We also help survivors that are out in the community with our outreach services, which include food and hygiene products, when needed. Because abuse does not discriminate, we have lots of different cultures, religions, and dietary restrictions on a regular basis. We are open to all different types of food, but produce is hard to come by, and it is truly appreciated when we get this in our kitchen.

We can accept a donation any day of the week, we just need a call to our office so that we can expect someone coming onto our property for safety and security purposes. We generally would not have an extra person to come and pick up after normal business hours.

ProducePedia

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
