The food pantry was started 23 years ago. We serve families and individuals of all types: young families, seniors, veterans, clients who are homeless and refugees from various countries. Currently, we serve about 130 families once a week on Friday mornings from 8-9am. Clients are allowed to choose the food that best meets the needs of them as an individual or a for their family. Each week our clients receive a bag of fresh produce-the size depends on the donations for that week. We feel fresh, healthy food is a very important goal for the pantry. Toiletries are also a very welcome donation.

Want an email when this food pantry updates their hours or other information?
Yes we can. Gardeners always donate to the same location. If gardeners cannot drop off their produce when we are open, please call 951-677-6174 so we can arrange another time.
You can just show up on the days and times listed. If these times or days do not work for you, please call 951) 677-6174 and we can set up a time for you to drop of produce or a pick up if necessary. We are located at the Murrieta United Methodist Church, which is next to Murrieta Elementary School and across the street from the Murrieta Library.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
