Maggie's Organic Market is located outdoors in Acadiana Mall's parking lot. We have recently secured space for a year-round market, and we are excited to differentiate ourselves by positioning our market as a "makers market" that exclusively features vendors selling homemade, handcrafted, and homegrown products. We believe this unique approach will attract a diverse range of customers who value locally sourced and artisanal goods. Our market is also registered as FNS Retailer and Farmer's Market with expanded services allowing us to accept Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT)-benefits on behalf of our produce, fruit, meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, and accessory food vendors. We believe that this collaboration between Maggie's Organic Market and the Louisiana Supplemental Nutrition Program will have a significant and positive impact on our community. It will not only increase access to nutritious food options but also support local farmers, vendors, and the economy. As part of Maggie's Organic Market's mission to benefit the community and residents of Lafayette Parish and its neighboring communities, we hope to partner with local farmer's to be able to save mother earth by ensuring good, nutritious produce is not dumped in the landfill. With your participation, through our programs, we are able to find a good home for our produce, and also raise contributions to support our continuing work on behalf of Acadiana community. Your donations and contributions will make it possible for us to rescue, recycle and redistribute hundred of pounds of produce every weekend to lower income and SNAP EBT benefits users.
Yes. Please just contact me! We would prefer to accept donations just before the market on Saturdays but anytime during the week is doable with a few days notice! We appreciate all donations!
Our farmers market begins at 9:00am on Saturdays. We would be happy to meet at the market located at Acadiana Mall (5725 Johnston St, Lafayette, LA 70503) as early as 6:00am or we can arrange for picking up the food the day prior. We appreciate all donations and know this will be an amazing way to recycle fresh produce and offer to underprivileged members of Lafayette Parish as well as SNAP Benefit Recipients.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
