We are a public library that maintains a small community food pantry available to anyone in need. Most days, food is gone within hours of putting it on the shelves. We service people of all ages, stages, and walks of life, and rely on library patrons and local organizations to supply the pantry with unexpired non-perishable food, toiletries, diapers, coats, and fresh produce when available. We are always in need of protein sources, staples, and healthy fresh food.
The pantry is closed on Sunday, and we have very little space for refrigeration. We can also accept donations for non-perishables, and more hardy produce 12pm-5pm on Friday, and 9am-3pm on Saturdays. The best days for delivery are Monday-Thursday.
Please bring items for donation to the front desk at the library, as at this time we are unable to pick up donations. The pantry is open during library hours.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
