The Giving Plate

The Giving Plate serves over 3,500 individuals a month in Central Oregon. We have a unique focus on childhood hunger, and as an organization, over 65% of those we serve are under 18. We are committed to ensuring that our food-insecure neighbors and children are not only offered the help they need but are served with dignity, compassion, and hospitality. Our most needed items include: Fresh Produce - We LOVE it! USDA Meats / Game Meats (processed in a commercial facility), Eggs, Milk, Cheese, Peanut Butter, Cereals, Boxed Meals, Dry Beans, Pasta & Pasta Sauce, Rice A Roni, Rice, Mac n' Cheese, Cake Mixes, Bread, Cornbread, Canned Fruit, Canned Vegetables, Canned Meats, Canned Beans, Soup / Chili, Any type of milk (liquid/powdered/canned), Juice boxes, Granola Bars, Fruit Snacks / Fruit Rollups, Cups of Mac & Cheese or Ramen, Pudding, Fruit Cups / Fruit Squeeze, Individual Servings (Peanut Butter, Oatmeal, Crackers, Chips, Microwave Popcorn, Trail Mix, Baby Food & Formula, Drinks, Body Soap, Dish Soap, Diapers, Laundry Soap, Toilet Paper, Toothpaste & Toothbrushes, Paper Towels & Napkins, Wipes.

When donating during our open hours, please drive to the back of the building and ring the door bell if you don’t see anybody. Our staff or volunteers will meet you to accept your donation. ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
