Crosstimbers is a Food Pantry and Outreach center dedicated to combating food insecurity in the community. We serve most of Labette County, KS, northern Craig County, OK, and northeastern Nowata County, OK. Our mission is to provide nutritious food and promote the overall well-being of families through activities and support physical, emotional, and social health. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Edna, Kansas, our motto is "Helping Our Neighbors in Need!" Our guests love fresh food! We gladly take food, toiletry, and monetary donations. We have a choice food pantry which guests can get on the third Thursday of each month at no cost.
We are also a TFAP commodity distribution point, so if the guest qualifies, they will receive that as well.
We distribute the third Thursday of every month. If you would like to make a donation and we are not open at that time, one of our pantry workers will meet you there or make arrangements to meet you.
Front doors open at 1:30 p.m. on the third Thursday monthly. Registration and distribution begins at 2:00 p.m. Numbers are called in order. You will go to the pantry area and make your selections. You will exit out the northwest door in the back. TFAP recipients will use the drive through in the back to pick up their box. Check our Edna Crosstimbers Food Pantry Facebook page for updates.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
