The Jonnycake Center Market is a shopper-choice food pantry serving residents of South Kingstown, Narragansett, Jamestown, and Block Island. We provide a welcoming, grocery store–style experience where individuals and families can select foods that best meet their cultural preferences, dietary needs, and health goals. We serve a diverse community, including working families, older adults, individuals with chronic health conditions, and those navigating food insecurity for the first time. On average, we support hundreds of households each month through both food access and nutrition-focused programming. We are very grateful for any non-perishable food donations (exception: produce). But, we are especially grateful for:
- Brown rice / quinoa
- Whole grain pasta
- Condiments
- Snacks (low-sugar)
- Cereal (low-sugar, whole grain)
Our goal is to provide nutritious, high-quality food with dignity and choice.
We deeply appreciate community support in helping us make that possible!
Non-perishables: Donation collection bins are available on our front porch 24/7.
Produce: please drop-off with the receptionist Mon-Fri, 9:00-3:00.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
