Bless Philadelphia exists to promote the peace, prosperity, health & safety of Philadelphians through compassionate community engagement. One of the primary ways that we do this is through our partnership with PhilAbundance and our weekly food pantry that distributes roughly 3-4,000 lbs of food weekly. While we are grateful for the shelf stable, frozen and/or sometimes refrigerated food that PhilAbundance provides to us, we REALLY wish we had more fresh produce to offer our visits. We serve everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity or religious affiliation and we make sure to make weekly food deliveries to neighbors who are disabled or homebound for whatever reason and are unable to come to our pantry in person. We have roughly 100 families that visit us every week and our #'s continue to grow.
Wednesdays from 6-8 pm is when our food pantry actually operates, however we can arrange for other days/times for drop offs. Please just contact us and let us know when you would like to come and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule!
Please call before coming: 267-250-8971. All deliveries can be made to the side door, up the driveway and down a short flight of stairs.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
