Mission Food Program at Westminster Rescue Mission

Here at the Westminster Rescue Mission, the Mission Food Program sources high-quality, nutritious food from farms, restaurants, stores, the Maryland Food Bank, and other partners. We then redistribute this food to pantries, soup kitchens, non-profit organizations, and agencies across the county, ensuring that it reaches the towns and neighborhoods where it is needed most. In FY 2024-25, the Mission Food Program supplied approximately 1,250,000 pounds of food to our community, equivalent to more than 1,000,000 meals. Each month, through our network we help support an average of 10,000 pantry visits by local food insecure families, making a tangible difference in the lives of tens of thousands. As one of only six redistribution partners of the Maryland Food Bank in the entire state, we not only put food on shelves but also work closely with our downstream partners to ensure food safety and educate staff and volunteers on the best combinations of nutritious foods to distribute to our hungry neighbors.

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
