ABCCM Crisis Ministry operates four food pantries and clothing closets throughout Buncombe County, serving more than 1,300 families and 2,800 individuals each month. Through our network of pantries, we distribute over 100,000 pounds of food monthly to neighbors experiencing food insecurity. We welcome donations of fresh fruits and vegetables, shelf-stable foods, meats, and other nutritious items that help support families across our community. Fresh produce from home gardens is especially appreciated, as it provides healthy options that are often difficult for families to access. Donations received through our pantries help children, seniors, veterans, working families, and individuals facing financial hardship. Every donation makes a direct impact by helping ensure our neighbors have access to nutritious food when they need it most.
Thank you for partnering with ABCCM to reduce food waste and fight hunger in Western North Carolina.

ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
