Aloha Harvest is the largest food rescue and redistribution organization on Oʻahu, getting quality excess food into stomachs instead of landfills. Free of charge and free of liability, we pick up quality excess food from donors (ex: wholesale distributors, grocery stores, restaurants, hotels, gardens) and redistribute it to recipient agencies feeding the hungry (ex: homeless shelters, social services, food pantries). We accept garden donations to our office or can coordinate our drivers to pick them up from your house.
Our office is open from 9am-5pm Mon-Fri. Please call ahead of time if you plan to drop off produce.
Our drivers pick up produce 7 days a week from 6am-1pm.
Please call (808) 537-6945 to set up a time to drop off produce to our office or to set up having drivers pick up from your house.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
