We are one of the largest food pantries in Northeastern Illinois. We currently serve over 850 households a week in a five-county area through a variety of programs including in-person choice shopping, pop-up mobile pantries for seniors, families with young children, veteran's, and low-income women (which includes diapers and menstrual hygiene products). We also deliver food weekly to homeless encampments, and other neighbors that lack transportation or have issues traveling to the pantry. We are always looking for fresh, healthy produce to share with our neighbors.
It is possible, but it is much easier for the pantry to get use the times designated. If you have a large quantity to donate, it is possible for us to pick-up
Please donate between 8am-3pm Monday-Friday. Pull up to door 2 and ring the door bell. We so appreciate fresh produce, dry goods, and more. If you have questions, please call our Program Director, Eddie at 630-692-3064
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
