Many of our patients in our family medicine office experience food insecurity. Healthy food is essential for those suffering from chronic disease. Our pantry clients include children and older people and everybody in between. We provide a free produce bag with fresh fruits and vegetables and a free bag of healthy non-perishables to anyone who visits in partnership with St. Mary's. We provide a fresh produce bag to over 200 households per month. Our patients love fresh produce! Thank you for your donation to our patients in need!
You can come anytime 8-5 Monday through Friday. Please park on the second floor of the garage, entrance off Willetta. Take the elevator to the 5th floor, enter Suite 500 and let the front desk know you have a delivery for the food pantry. If you have too much to carry we can help. We have refrigeration so your healthy produce will be stored until a client picks it up. We can handle up to 150 lbs of fresh produce at each delivery. Thank you!
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
