Bread & Roses - Community Kitchen & Emergency Pantry
Pantry #11207
We are an Emergency Pantry and Community Kitchen. Every day, we always provide our patrons with fresh food, including produce, dairy products, and protein. Our Emergency Pantry helps around 100 families access three days of three full meals a day. That means that a family of four selects enough food for 12 meals. Our sustainable model rescues food from local businesses, restaurants, and organizations. This diverts good and nutritious food from landfills and to the community's most vulnerable members.
Patrons can also request toiletries, clothing, diapers, pet food, and other necessities when they visit our pantry. We also prepare and cook meals for around 200 people a night. The meals are packaged to go or served restaurant-style in our dining room. We rely entirely on the community to help more than 12,000 people access food and other necessities monthly! Unlike many places, we happily accept perishable and non-perishable items. Drop-offs are M-Th and Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
Our drop off hours are M-TH and Saturdays between 10AM - 6PM. Feel free to give us a call at 979-681-8768 to let our team know so they are ready when you are here. You can pull directly into our back parking lot even if there are no available spaces.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
