It is our privilege to provide totally free food and clothing to approximately 450 families per month. Our program serves anyone in central PA. We love to be able to provide fresh fruits and vegetables but frequently have a shortage on those. We also have need for diapers, toiletries, household cleaners, and dry goods.
Donations can be dropped off on Sundays from 9 to 12, Tuesdays from 1 to 3 PM, Wednesdays from 4:30 to 8:30 PM. Look for the entrance marked "Christian Life Center". There is a cart right inside that lobby marked "Share the Harvest". Donations can be placed there. If those times don't work for you, contact the church at 717-737-6560 to set up another drop off time.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
