Hello! We are a national nutrition education non-profit called Brighter Bites. Brighter Bites was founded in Houston, Texas, in 2012 and now serves more than 30,000 families annually in 10 cities, sharing the mission of creating communities of health through fresh food. We are in great need of fresh fruit and vegetable donations only.
The Brighter Bites program meets families at their schools and gives them a ‘free trial’ to experiment with preparing and eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Our aim is to grow demand for produce by purposefully channeling it into underserved communities and flooding families’ pantries on a weekly basis. All distributions take place at registered schools, not at the pantry location.
In addition to the fresh produce, families receive nutrition handbooks and tip sheets, plus recipes via the Brighter Bites App that incorporate that week’s variety of produce. We couldn’t do what we do without amazing produce partners like yourselves because getting our families a variety of fruits and vegetables each week is key to our programs’ success.

ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
