The Friendship House is a food bank that has been serving Carrollton and surrounding areas for over 30 years. We provide food packages for 200+ families per week of all ages and backgrounds. Those who come to us for the first time are served the same day and then added to our database. Our food bank is equipped to provide frozen and refrigerated foods in addition to non perishable items, giving our clients a wide variety of nutrition. We love to provide fresh fruit and vegetables daily as well as eggs and dairy products. It would be ideal to receive produce from local farmers! Providing sources of protein is our goal as well, which include peanut butter and any canned meats or fish. We also love to have toiletry items and diapers on hand to give as part of our packages.

Want an email when this food pantry updates their hours or other information?
We would appreciate working with local farmers and would ask that they deliver to us if possible. It would be helpful to work together on specific days and times for the deliveries. We unload all food that is donated in the back of our building, and it is easily accessible.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
