Casey County Food Pantry

The Casey County Food Pantry, a ministry of Dunnville Christian Church, is a community food distribution program dedicated to providing food assistance to individuals and families in need throughout Casey County. Our mission is simple: to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. We recognize that hunger can affect people from all walks of life—families, seniors, children, and individuals facing unexpected hardships—and we are here to serve them with dignity, compassion, and care. Each month, we serve over 1,000 low-income families through our food distribution programs, including federally supported initiatives like TEFAP and CSFP food assistance programs. We also support children through our Backpack Program, which provides weekend meals for students who may not have enough food outside of school. We primarily serve low-income families, seniors on fixed incomes, and children in need across Casey County.

Many of the families we serve are working households who are just one unexpected expense—like a medical bill or job loss—away from food insecurity. In addition to distributing food, we operate a food rescue program that helps reduce waste by redistributing safe, usable food to those who need it most. This allows us to expand our reach and better serve our community. Our greatest needs include: Non-perishable food items (canned goods, boxed meals, peanut butter, etc.) Fresh and healthy food options when available Kid-friendly, individually packaged items for our Backpack Program Household essentials and toiletries (which are often overlooked but greatly needed) Financial donations, which allow us to purchase food in bulk and stretch resources further We are 100% community-supported, and everything we do is made possible through donations and volunteers. Whether you give food, funds, or your time, you are helping us deliver hope and meet real needs right here in Casey County.

Because we are a 100% volunteer-run ministry, we are only open for regular operations during the week of the 2nd Monday of each month from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM. We are able to accept donations outside of those scheduled times, but we ask that all donors—including gardeners—please contact us in advance to schedule a drop-off. This ensures that a volunteer is available to receive and properly store your donation. To coordinate a donation time, please call 606-787-0138 ext. 122 or email [email protected] and wait for confirmation before arriving. At this time, donations do not need to be delivered to different locations on different days; however, scheduling ahead is required for all non-scheduled drop-offs.

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
