Loaves and Fishes prides itself on being a healthy food pantry, giving everyone who visits food customized for household size and dietary and cultural preferences. In 2024, 22,201 people in 6,133 households got at least a week's worth of food from the pantry in 33,208 pantry visits. 65% of the food we give out is perishable: fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, milk, meat, and bakery products. We sometimes can also provide diapers and formula, as well as feminine sanitary supplies, adult incontinence products, and pet food, all donated from outside sources and partnerships with other community organizations. Our most desired items are essential proteins: eggs, milk, and meat (halal appreciated!), and fresh produce.
Follow the signs past the front of the building to a canopy on back side of building. Please ring the doorbell on the brown column and warehouse staff will come to receive your donation.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
