The City of Jonesboro in Jonesboro, GA is starting up a Client Choice Food Pantry in several months in the Spring to provide nutritous perishable and non perishable items to Senior Citizens in the community. The initiative started with concerns regarding Senior Citiens and the elderly population in the Jonesboro, GA community not having access to healthy food choices and to assist the senior population who are on a fixed and low income with having closer access to healthy foods to include affordable vegetables and fruits to eat in order to help Seniors thrive and hopefully live healthier lives in the Jonesboro community near their homes and backyard. We are in a dire need of fresh vegetables and fresh fruits to provide to seniors when once they have the opportunity in the Spring of 2026 to shop inside of the Client Choice Pantry in the City of Jonesboro, GA community because we already have an influx of can goods that have been donated but no fresh produce or vegetables. Any donations of fresh vegetables and fruits will be greatly appreciated and would have a positive impact by enhancing the quality of life of our Senior Citizens profusely. Our elderly and Senior Citizens are the foundation of our communties because they provide the next generation with essential wisdom which strengthens communities as a whole. Therefore, keeping them healthy is very important.

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
