Community Services Council of Woodbury/The Woodbury Food Bank

The Community Services Council of Woodbury's Woodbury Food Bank in Woodbury, CT is in existence to compassionately assist our neighbors in need. A small town, we serve on average 80 guest families at the food bank per week ranging from single young adults, young families with children infants to 18, to senior citizens just trying to make ends meet on their limited fixed incomes. The food bank also offers "The Foodtique" featuring donated items not normally stocked at the food bank, but made available to our guests to freely choose from. Community Services Council of Woodbury additionally can and does offer assistance in other categories to our guests and local residents in the form of supplementary energy assistance and crisis assistance. We are fortunate to receive fresh locally grown produce from residents as well as from the regional high school's Vo-Ag program, a popular offering to our guests that goes very quickly when we are able to offer this healthy choice. To offer more of fresh produce is always nice, and demand exceeds donations! In fact, all donations are cheerfully and gratefully accepted!

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden.
