Day Community Food Pantry

The Day Community Food Pantry (DCFP) is moving to a stand-alone model after beginning as a supported and transitional “mobile” food pantry in the Town of Day. The DCFP Board has established operational stability and viability for a monthly food pantry, while increasing the population served from 15 households/month to 50 households/month in a town of 900 full-time residents most who are senior citizens. We hope to address the difficulties of consistently providing key food items to our families in need. Providing healthy fresh produce has proven to be challenging within the food ordering model of the NE Regional Food Bank, whether as “free” items in the shopping portal, or paid for items.

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
