We operate a monthly food panty as part of the Fern Street Food Ministry associated with the Universalist Church in West Hartford Our ministry consists of a monthly food pantry, biweekly community breakfast with a mobile food truck and a weekend backpack program for public school students. Our panty is on the 3rd Saturday of each month and we set up the Friday before the pantry We are currently serving over 100 various families. Our goal is to provide as many healthy and nutritious food options as we can for food insecure families. We LOVE healthy fresh food! Partnering with local farmers during the growing season is priority for our program. Toiletries and donations are also appreciated. Thanks for considering our pantry

ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
