We are a public library that maintains a small community food pantry available to anyone in need. Most days, food is gone within hours of putting it on the shelves. We service people of all ages, stages, and walks of life, and rely on library patrons and local organizations to supply the pantry. We can now accept produce, meats, and other food that needs to be refrigerated or even frozen, as well as unexpired non-perishable food, toiletries, and baby supplies. We are always in need of protein sources, staples, and healthy fresh food.
Please bring items for donation to the front desk at the library, as at this time we are unable to pick up donations. The pantry is open during library hours.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
