GoodRoots Northwest (Bonney Lake Food Bank)

Our facility is inviting and welcoming. It looks and 'feels' like a metropolitan market. A grocery-store, choice model, provides our customers with a dignified shopping experience. We provide nutritious foods that include fresh produce, dairy, meats, proteins, and nonperishable items. We also ensure we have culturally-represented and dietary need foods for our customers. We service 2,433 household visits each month. We provide equitable access to nutritious food, with dignity, to those in the community facing food insecurity. Dignity - Cultivating a culture that ensures everyone is valued and respected. Equity and Access - Addressing inequitable systemic practices while removing barriers to food access. Community - A network of collaborative partners unified in building outcome focused solutions through transparency and accountability. We love healthy fresh food donations as well as Kosher/Halal/Vegetarian/Gluten free donations. We appreciate toiletries donations also.

We also want to state that we have food lockers available for customers to place orders for pick-up times at their convenience. Currently there is a locker at our Buckley Market location, at the Bonney Lake Library, at the Orting Food Bank, and in Carbonado at the fire station.

ProducePedia

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
