Greater Goods is a free choice pantry that operates in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. We serve a largely Latin American population and offer low barrier services to those in need. We are open Mon-Fri, 9am-11:45am. We serve healthy foods such as meat, poultry, dairy, shelf-stable items, as well as household items and feminine hygiene products and diapers. We serve a customer base of approximately 4,000 people and see about 600 people per week. Our focus is on families and multiple members in one household may shop once per week.
We focus on fresh food and do not serve heavily processed foods or baked goods.
Basically, if you can find it in the grocery store (minus high sugar/high fat items), we need it!
Please call 267-241-8348 before delivering. Deliveries can be brought in through loading gate on H Street.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
