We offer a monthly food distribution at the Community Center in Bloomville, Ohio. The third Thursday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. with every other month including hygiene items. We serve all age groups and many families with younger children. We require no income verifications. We serve around 50-75 individuals monthly. We would love to be able to bless our folks with fresh food. Our goal is to provide the families with enough staples to help them get by when funds are low. We accept donations of shelf stable items such as canned or boxed products. We also accept donations of hygiene items such as toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and feminine hygiene products. Gift cards and monetary donations also accepted by mailing to P.O. Box 391 Bloomville, Ohio.
There is a tote located at the Bloomville Community Center that items can be placed in or arrangements for drop off/pickup by calling Melissa Mullins at 567-230-4679.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
