We are a community pantry providing free food, clothing, books, and personal hygiene necessities to those in need. In 2024, we served close to 1,100 families primarily residing in Oneida and Vilas Counties. In addition to our weekly distribution hours on Tuesday and Thursday, we have several community outreach initiatives to provide emergency food boxes and a robust school backpack program during the academic year. Our families love healthy fresh food choices, so we welcome donations of fruits and vegetables that we can distribute to our customers.
Arrangements can be made to drop donations outside of regular hours with advance notice and by calling Lakeland Pantry to confirm a date and time. The Pantry is primarily run by volunteers, so advance notice of 24-48 hours is appreciated.
Our open hours are every Tuesday from 8:30-11:30am and Thursday from 3:30-6:00pm. Arrangements can be made to drop donations outside of these hours by calling the Pantry at 715-358-2222 during open hours or by leaving a message. Please note that messages are retrieved primarily during our regular hours.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
