Main Street Family Life Center is a community outreach ministry founded by Main Street Baptist Church in Burnet, Texas. We operate a food pantry, baby pantry (diapers, wipes, and formula), hygiene and household assistance, clothing assistance, and a pet food pantry. We serve families, seniors, veterans, homeless individuals, and rural communities across Burnet County and surrounding counties. We turn no one away. We are a rural pantry and are not currently partnered with a food bank, so fresh produce donations from gardeners and farmers would be an incredible blessing to the families we serve. Many of the families we help do not have access to fresh fruits and vegetables on a regular basis, so these donations make a big difference in their health and well-being.
We currently serve hundreds of households each month and host a large monthly food distribution in addition to ongoing weekly assistance for families in need. Most needed items:
• Fresh fruits and vegetables
• Eggs
• Milk
• Meat
• Pantry staples
• Diapers and wipes
• Hygiene items
• Pet food (dog and cat)

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
