The MANNA Food Pantry is one of ECHO His Love's programs. Recently, we became fortunate enough to expand our food pantry and re-locate to a much larger facility, which we are very proud of. We are open three days a week and serve residents of Benzie and Manistee counties, Michigan. Now that we have increased refrigeration and freezer capacity, we are looking forward to having more healthy, fresh food selections to offer to our approximate 40-50 families each month. We are also now able to be a "client-choice" model pantry, allowing individuals to select the specific foods that they need for their unique situation. Now that we are in our new location (larger space) we hope to serve as a "hub" for other, smaller, outlying pantries in the area. We will be able to accept large quantities of food and then re-package into more manageable size containers to distribute to families and other pantries that do not have adequate storage.

ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
