Pantry is located in donated space at Mt. Airy Baptist Church. We are for the residents of Mt Airy, MD(21771). Mt Airy Net has a crisis office and a food pantry. We average about 100 guests per month throughout the community coming in for help.
Because we are at the edge of 4 counties we help where we can and give the next step at the county level for further help.
Guests are provided a grocery cart of food and toiletries in addition to fresh produce and frozen meats.
We accept donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries and baby items(diapers, wipes, formula and food).
We love fresh produce from local gardens!
All our donations come in from the Mt. Airy Community and go back out to those struggling in that community.
Our open hours are 10AM - 2PM Tuesday thru Thursday. It's always on a walk in basis.
Come around the front of the building and you will see our door on the field side. Park and come inside.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
