Neighborhood Food Pantries

Established in 1999, Neighborhood Food Pantries (NFP) has been a reliable resource for neighbors in need of food in DuPage County. Through the generosity of volunteers, individuals and community partnerships, NFP is able to provide food to feed a family every week, unlike other pantries that restrict visits to one or two times a month. Our pantries are located in area churches in some of the neediest areas in the county, providing nutritious food to families in their neighborhood, close to where they live. Our singular focus is to improve the health and well-being of our neighbors by providing reliable access to nutritious food. NFP currently distributes food through 6 pantry sites located in Carol Stream (2), Glendale Heights, Warrenville, Wayne and West Chicago. The majority of guests are within 15 minutes of a pantry location.

Five of our pantries are open multiple days a week. At least one of our pantries is open each day of the week. During fiscal 2025 (7/1/24-6/30/25) NFP welcomed 66,000 visits to our pantries, reaching 225,000 neighbor contacts with nutritious food. We distributed over 4 million pounds of food. We love healthy, fresh foods and diapers/toiletries as well!

From the Listing

We accept food at all locations, but it is most convenient to drop off at our West Chicago location. We are open most days starting at 10am-2pm, so drop off prior to or just after those hours is preferred.

ProducePedia

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
