We recommend calling or emailing the pantry ahead of time to be sure their days/hours of operation have not changed.

New Story community outreach

We are a community outreach that serves a hot meal once a week, have a food pantry once a week, and a clothing closet every other week. Most of our guests are unhoused, the rest are low income individuals and families. We have been doing this outreach for about 10 years. Our guests get very excited when we are able to offer fresh fruit and have shared inventive ways to prepare fresh vegetables. We also have frozen meat for our housed guests and pop top canned meat for the unhoused population that we serve. All quests leave with shelf stables as well.

ProducePedia

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
