Our pantry distributes food every week to hundreds of hungry neighbors. We are always accepting food donations, either for the regular pantry distribution (if dropped off Mon, Tu, Th 9-11:30 or 1-3:30) OR for the free food box and produce stand located to the north east of our building off of the alley way (this can be dropped any time!)
Donations can come in on Monday, Tuesday or Thursdays except the 3rd Thursday afternoon which is another food distribution. Clients are served on Wednesdays, so we try to avoid receiving donations that day.
Bring food donations to the alley door on the east side of the building if dropping Mon, Tu, Th 9-11:30 or 1-3:30 (call 765-644-2121 when you arrive, or go to one of the north or main parking lot doors beforehand to press buzzer and tell us you've arrived). Or, pull to the north east corner to place directly into the free food box or on free produce stand. 620 E 21st St, Anderson, IN.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
