Penfield Hope welcomes Penfield residents and families to contact us when there is a need for food or other assistance. We do our best to encounter everyone where they are and encourage deeper dialogue to help determine how we can help not only with immediate needs but also broader financial and budgeting concerns.
Our goal is to walk beside each client on a pathway to housing and financial stability. Penfield HOPE is committed to a collaborative service approach and entering into client relationships that support the needs of families and individuals. We seek to provide an integrated response with referrals as needed to other resources and partners.
Our Hope volunteers are trained in a "ministry of encounter." Volunteer opportunities include working directly with clients, organizational and administrative work, and facility maintenance.
Penfield Hope is a ministry of St. Joseph's Church, and is a member of Foodlink. Penfield Hope, Inc. is an independent 501c3 charitable organization.
Please contact us at 585-586-5139 before bringing donations. We have a parking lot in the back of our building.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
