Puerta de Restauración Food Pantry

The Mercy Ministry at Puerta de Restauración Church has a food pantry that serves families in Bexar County every Wednesday 3-6pm since 2019. We serve fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, bakery, dairy, frozen foods, meat, as well as non-food items and pet food when available. We also have used clothes, used shoes, and other used small household items donated to the church that are available to families in need all free of charge. We use USDA & Foodbank income eligibility guidelines.

From the Listing

Note: Food pantry is in a separate building from the main church. Please coordinate any deliveries with Gracie Mestre at (210)710-7011 beforehand since space and refrigeration is limited at the food pantry. Best time to drop off is Wednesday at 10am-12pm in order to be ready to serve the families by 3pm. Please do not drop stuff off at the church. When you come into the church parking lot, go to the roundabout and look left, you will see a yellow box truck and gray house. That's the food pantry. Please call first. Thank you so much. God bless!

ProducePedia

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
