Putnam Community Action Partnership (CAP) is a not-for-profit anti-poverty organization. Our mission is to mobilize and efficiently manage resources through partnerships and collaborations to assist the low-income and at-risk populations to achieve greater self-sufficiency. Our food pantry is open 3 days per week, and can be accessed twice per month by those in need of nutritional support. We also have a soup kitchen program that serves a nutritious, hot meal Tuesday - Friday from 12:00 - 1:00 pm.
We love healthy, ideally locally sourced, fresh food! We also accept donations of toiletry items, cleaning supplies, youth and adult diapers, and wipes.
Food Pantry is open on Mondays 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Wednesdays 8:30 am - 6:30 pm, and Fridays 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Donations can be received on these days/times, but also on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
