We are a local community college that serves the needs of our diverse student population. We serve students of all ages, orientations, races, status (disabled, veteran, single parent, etcetera). Our students rely on our pantry to not only help supplement their basic needs, but often times those of their families as well. We try promoting healthy eating, so fresh produce is very much needed and appreciated! We maintain our goal to be inclusive, so we appreciate kosher, halal, vegan, and vegetarian items. Most of these items are either unavailable, limited, or too costly. In addition, we have began providing toiletries for all students (dependent upon availability). In addition, we are working to assist with emergency housing and student homelessness. We are very much in need and any bit helps. We are forever grateful and thankful!

ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
