As a food bank and distribution center, we provide food to a network of food pantries and similar hunger-relief organizations throughout NM. Every week, tens of thousands of people in NM benefit from the food provided through the food bank including children, seniors, adults and families -- from all walks of life. The types of food we need includes anything found in your own food pantry as well as perishables such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat and other food items. Any food donation must be brought into the facility during business hours. Email [email protected] for any questions or call 505.247.2052.
If you are seeking help with food or need assistance applying for public benefits such as SNAP (food stamps), call our food assistance line Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm: 505.349.5340 or mail [email protected].
If the food donations fit in a trunk or backseat, please bring it in through our main lobby. Our reception team will help you unload the donations into grocery carts. If the food donations fit in the bed of a truck or are the size of a box truck or larger, please check in with our receptionist first and we will direct you to our loading docks and truck bay where our warehouse team can help unload.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
