Silver Spring Christian Reformed Church (SSCRC) Food Pantry
The food pantry at Silver Spring Christian Reformed Church operates on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 3 - 5 pm. We currently serve over 600 households per distribution. We welcome donations of shelf stable foods, hygiene items, and diapers at any time. These items can be dropped off in a donation bin at the front doors of the church.
We particularly desire more fresh produce. We are able to accept some donations of refrigerated and frozen items as well. The best times to drop off produce or cold items are the Monday evening before a distribution between 5:30 - 8:30 or on the Tuesday morning of a distribution between 8:00 - 10:30.
To drop off fresh or cold foods outside of these times, please contact Jennifer at 301-284-8401.
- Hygiene items and shelf stable items can be dropped off anytime in the donation bin at the front door

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
