Society of St. Vincent dePaul

We provide food assistance to residents of Anderson County, Texas on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to noon. New registrations must be done before 11:30 am. Neighbors can receive food assistance once per month. We currently serve approximately 60 families a week with canned vegetables, frozen meats, pantry staples, and bread. Fresh fruits and vegetables as available. We also try to supply baby formula, diapers, and adult diapers as available.

We have an on-site thrift store open during pantry hours selling low cost clothing and household goods, which funds our pantry. Donations of these items can be brought during pantry hours. Personal care items gratefully accepted, the most commonly requested item is adult diapers, wipes, and under pads.

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
