We are a food pantry run by our church, St. Luke University Parish, in Georgetown Township Michigan. We serve university students, parishioners, and the local communities of Georgetown and Allendale. We serve anywhere between 30 and 60 families, once per month, or in case of emergencies we can help in between distribution days. We provide a variety of food, both canned goods and fresh meat/dairy and household products, including personal care items. We would love to receive fresh produce on our pantry days which are always the second Thursday of each month. We can also accept paper products and famine hygiene items if available. Meat and dairy items are appreciated also.

ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
