We are a small, rural food pantry that supports the ever-growing nutritional needs of 325 Harrison County Indiana residents (that number continues to grow) every month. We are completely staffed by compassionate and caring community volunteers.
Excluding major holidays, our pantry is staffed on Mondays 11a-12p (food bank deliveries), Tuesdays 4-6p (distributions), and Saturdays 9:30-11:30a (distributions). Non-perishable donations may be left at the pantry door. Perishable or other donations may also be left at the St. Mary’s Parish Office (the yellowish building located due east of the pantry). We greatly appreciate every single donation and, like nearly every food pantry, we seem to always be in need of canned meats, fish, vegetables, pasta sauce, soups, and fruit; cereal; shelf stable milk; pasta; and, toiletry/personal hygiene items. If your heart desires to give, please visit us on distribution days (Tuesdays and Saturdays) to experience the blessings our volunteers receive as we share God’s blessings with those who are in need of nutritional assistance!
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
